Looking Back and Looking Forward…
While feeling sad about the turmoil in our society, there are good things happening on a more personal level. With your support, Vinopolis is gathering momentum. Pudding is maturing but continues to be her cheerful self. We are expecting a new member into our family soon. Now that we are well into the last quarter of 2019, one looks forward to 2020 and hopefully all things will turn better. Here at Vinopolis, we will keep up with the work to deliver value to you.
Talking about value, we have seen reasonable interests in our Gold Wine Program, something we would offer again. Just to recap, the Gold Program is one which a member will pay HK$6,000 upfront and receive our curation of 3 bottles of wines in the coming Dec/Feb/Apr i.e. total 9 bottles. The wines are all rated 95 points or above by the leading wine critics and selected based on certain preference criteria pre-specified by the member. In addition to our insight in selecting these wines, it will actually be more economical than if one were to buy these wines individually from our website. Members will also be invited to our office for a tasting event during which one can meet like-minded folks to exchange ideas while enjoying wines and snacks.
If you want to join (or join again), please e-mail us in the next 2 weeks providing:
Your name / E-mail / Telephone number / Address
Your wine preference: (1) Red only (2) Sweet and white wine acceptable (3) Wines from the New World (Australia, New Zealand, US, Argentina, Chile) acceptable
As the festive season is approaching, why not consider stocking up Champagne? And we carry:
2006 Taittinger Comtes de Champagne (WA96) at $780/bottle – Opening with an intense floral nose, this utterly complex Champagne will further develop in the glass to give the flavour of lime, lemon confit and a hint of crushed chalk with abundant lush and freshness.
2006 Dom Perignon (WA96) at $1,080/bottle – A name that needs no introduction and the 2006 being a rich vintage with an early ripeness that is seductive and very accessible now.
2008 Louis Roederer Blanc de Blanc (WA95) at $850/bottle – This one offers a very subtle but multi-layered bouquet of wet chalk, hazelnut, apple, lemon and jasmine. It’s full-bodied, fresh, vibrant without losing elegance.
NV Krug Grand Cuvee Edition 166 (WA96) at $1,100/bottle – Bright golden in colour, this elegant Champagne shows its fruity features of dark cherry, apple and lemon, with plenty of freshness and intensity. It is also one that will develop further for the next 20 years.
2007 Taittinger Comtes de Champagne Rose (WA96) at $1,100/bottle – We would strongly recommend this if one is looking for a pink Champagne. Its nose is one with a complex bouquet of blood orange, raspberry , red plum and dry flowers. On the palate, it is medium to full bodied, deep and concluding with a long finish.
