Santa Claus is coming to town…

This is the second Christmas since Vinopolis HK started operating. We enjoy what we are doing not because of growth but because many customers see value in what we are offering. That gives us satisfaction and motivation to continue looking for improvements. Size and profit have never been our main objective. It is more about creating a set up to serve wine enthusiasts.

Rhetoric aside, let’s go to the highlights of our latest additions to the inventory:

2014 Larcis Ducasse (JS96) at $410/bottle – The great value, quintessential elegant red from St-Emilion (Bordeaux) boosting a lovely bouquet of rose petals, cranberry and wild strawberry with a medium bodied palate and a good length finish.

2008 Pichon Baron (RP95) at $1,020/bottle – A sleeper of the vintage, this is one of the densest and most concentrated of all things from Pauillac (Bordeaux) with aromas of blackberries, charcoal, coffee and licorice. A gorgeous and larger-than-life wine that will effortlessly age for another 20 years…

2000 Leoville Barton (RP95) at $1,080/bottle – This is the wine for those looking for a good Bordeaux name from a great vintage but without paying crazy prices. A behemoth from St-Julien, it is dense purple in colour with wonderfully sweet cedar and fruitcake notes and having such potential to evolve continuously.

2016 Raymond Usseglio CNDP Cuvee Imperiale (WA95) at $400/bottle – This is a stunner from Chateauneuf-du-Pape. Scents of roses, black tea and raspberries set the scene for a full-bodied but silky, intricate wine that is never heavy.

2009 Two Hands Barney's Block Shiraz (WA95) at $350/bottle – From McLaren Vale of Australia, this is a very full bodied deep purple colour wine that is profoundly scented of dark fruits and offers a palate packed with blackberry and a meaty flavour, wrapping up with a very long finish.

2012 Martinelli Chardonnay Three Sisters Vineyard (RP95) at $550/bottle – From Sonoma (California), this is an opulent wine displaying loads of honeysuckle, orange peel and tropical fruit. Only 179 cases produced.

And in response to popular demand, we have re-stocked items such as the 2010 Ch. Pesquie Quintessence (from the Rhone region rated WA95 at $210), the 2011 Clinet (from Pomerol rated RP95 at the now better price of $600), the 2006 Taittinger Comte de Champagne (rated WA96 at $780/bottle) and the 2015 Dumol Clare Chardonnay (from Sonoma rated WA98 at $580).
